Cheese Scones

On this princely wedding day, I offer you a typically English recipe: cheese scones. It’s delicious, very easy to make and perfect for brunch.

Ingredients for a dozen scones:

  • 250 g flour (+ for the work surface)
  • 50 g butter
  • 5 cl milk
  • 2 tbsp. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 150g cheddar
  • 1 egg
  • salt

Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 220 ° C.
In a bowl, mix flour, yeast.
Add the butter and grated cheddar and mix with your fingertips until a sandy mixture is obtained.
Add the milk and the beaten egg as an omelet.
Work with your fingertips until you obtain a homogeneous dough (add flour if the dough is too sticky).
Spread the dough between 2 sheets of baking paper floured on 2 cm thick.
Use a glass or cookie cutter to cut out dough discs about 5-6 cm in diameter.
Place the dough discs on the baking sheet (previously covered with baking paper) and bake for 12 to 15 minutes depending on the thickness (they must be nicely browned and swollen).
Remove from the oven and taste immediately.

Note :
The scones open in two vertically to be filled with butter.
